privacy
culturedrop is a small browser game. This page explains the (very limited) data the site stores, why, and how to ask for it to be deleted.
Who runs this
culturedrop is a personal project by Joppe Moorelisse (the Netherlands). Contact: joppe@theradicleagency.com.
What's stored when you play
If you only play the game without submitting a score, nothing is stored on our servers.
If you submit a score to the leaderboard, we store:
- The display name you typed
- The country code you selected
- Your score and the score per round
- The time the game took
- A salted hash of your IP address (cannot be reversed without the salt; used to rate-limit submissions and prevent abuse)
- A timestamp of when you submitted
Display name + country + score appear publicly on the leaderboard. The IP hash and per-round breakdown are internal and not shown to anyone.
What's stored in your browser
The site uses localStorage on your device (not on our servers) for:
- Whether you've muted the music or sound effects
- Which images you've already seen, so the game doesn't repeat them
These don't identify you and never leave your browser. You can clear them any time via your browser's site-data controls.
Cookies and trackers
The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising, or tracking services. Fonts are served from the same domain as the game — no third party sees your IP just from loading the page.
Map tiles (CARTO), images (Wikimedia Commons), and the Leaflet map library (unpkg) are fetched from third-party CDNs to make the game work. They see your IP address as part of any normal web request, but don't profile or track you across sites.
Hosting and processors
The site runs on Cloudflare (Workers, Pages, D1 database, KV storage) as the sole infrastructure provider. Cloudflare acts as a data processor; their privacy policy applies to any data they handle on our behalf.
Retention
Leaderboard entries are kept indefinitely while the project is live. If you'd like your entry removed, see below — we honour deletion requests.
Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask what data we hold about you
- Ask us to delete your leaderboard entry
- Ask us to correct your display name or country
- Object to processing or withdraw any consent you gave
Email joppe@theradicleagency.com with the display name you submitted under. We'll respond within 30 days. There's no charge, and you don't need to give a reason.
Children
The game isn't directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly store data submitted by minors. If a parent or guardian wants an entry removed, the contact above will handle it the same way as any other deletion request.
Changes to this page
If we change anything material, we'll update the date at the top. Substantial changes will be flagged on the start screen the next time you play.
